Aspiring young cricketers from Newton Aycliffe will form a guard of honour at Saturday’s One Day international between England and Australia at Emirates Durham ICG.
The 13 youngsters, who play for Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s Under-11s team, were selected by England Cricket Board (ECB) sponsors NatWest to lead the players out for the fourth of the One Day series against the Aussies.
Malcolm Dawes, Aycliffe CC’s Youth and Development Officer, said: “NatWest got in touch because of the good work we do with the NatWest Cricket Force weekend we take part in, and of course we’re absolutely delighted.
“It will be a truly wonderful experience. To see a One Day international live will be fantastic for them, but to form a guard of honour will be something the youngsters and their families will be able to treasure.”
NatWest have laid on an extra 20 tickets so the Aycliffe youngsters can take their families on Saturday.
“Everyone is really looking forward to it,” added Malcolm. “Let’s just hope the weather is kind to us.”
There are only 1,000 tickets remaining on sale for the NatWest One Day International at Emirates Durham on Saturday, priced £60 adults and £15 juniors, and are available from durhamccc.co.uk
