Nominations are now being sought for an annual awards ceremony which celebrates local community champions.
Durham County Council’s Chairman’s Medal awards are given to individuals or groups and for the first time to ‘young people’ who have contributed significantly to communities in County Durham
Working with Great Aycliffe & Middridge Partnership (GAMP) the chairman is encouraging people to nominate ‘young people’ and ‘individuals for voluntary effort’ or ‘outstanding charitable organisations’ from your local AAP area.
Councillor Jan Blakey, chairman of Durham Council, said: “I am certain we will have many outstanding entries to be considered for both categories.
“We have some wonderful young people throughout the county who richly deserve recognition for the selfless work they do – work that very often goes unnoticed, but is so vital to the individuals or communities it helps”.
The awards will take place in May, and the closing date for nominations is Monday 14th March.
