Newtonian Nige Slatcher has smashed his target to run 100 kilometres during lockdown 0.2 – as well as surpassing his fundraising target.
The chairman of Newton Aycliffe Juniors FC committed to the fundraising feat during the period of the second Covid lockdown.
He has set up a Go Fund Me page and is hoping to raise £500 each for the RoyalBritish Legion and the junior football club.
Nige ended up running 102 kilometres during lockdown – and has so far raised £1,030.
You can donate to his Go Fund Me page here.
Nige told us: “I am pleased to confirm that I actually slightly exceeded my target by running 102.75km by Friday, November 27, which was four days earlier than the target date.
“But, more importantly, the sponsorship fund has also exceeded the stretching £1k target set and currently stands at £1,030!
“I’m genuinely overwhelmed by all the support and kind donations from everyone, especially under the current difficult circumstances we are all having to deal with at the moment due to the Covid19 pandemic.
“So I would again like to thank everyone who sponsored me, I genuinely appreciate it.”
Nige is leaving his fundraising page open until Tuesday, December 8, when the final total will be signed off and the funds distributed accordingly.
