Last minute works were underway ahead of the full reopening of Durham County Council’s newly refurbished Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
Important improvement works to the changing rooms and pool side areas have been ongoing since November last year.
The upgraded facilities opened to the public on Thursday (11th February).
Councillor Maria Plews, the council’s cabinet member for leisure, libraries and lifelong learning, said: “Whether it is laps, lessons, floats or fun, Newton Aycliffe swimming pool has something to offer families – and following these improvements we hope to see many more visitors.
“Swimming is a great low impact way to get fit and stay fit, or why not try our aqua classes, or maybe just splash about with the kids?”
