The Newton Aycliffe Marie Curie Fundraising Group raised a fantastic £343 last weekend by enjoying a spot of tea and cake at the charity’s summer fundraising campaign.
The local fundraising group welcomed guests in to Heighington Village Hall on Saturday July 9 where scones were served and visitors tried their luck on the tombola and raffle.
The Blooming Great Tea Party encourages everyone to get together with friends and family to hold a tea party. Tea parties across the UK have raised over £4.5 million since the campaign started in 2008.
The funds raised from this Blooming Great Tea Party will help Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness in their own homes in and around Newton Aycliffe.
Hayley Revell, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie said: “The Newton Aycliffe Blooming Great Tea Party was a great success and we are grateful to everyone who attended the event.
“There was a great atmosphere in the hall and a fantastic amount of money was raised.”
