Newton Aycliffe slumped to their seventh league defeat of the season at Newcastle Benfield on Wednesday night.
After their much-needed, morale-boosting victory at Billingham Synthonia last weekend, Allan Oliver’s were dealt another blow with their third away loss of the campaign against a team struggling with them in the bottom half of the table.
Aycliffe enjoyed a bright opening 20 minutes, with Tom Atkinson twice missing half chances, while Zak Boagey’s mazy dribble resulted with a weak effort.
But disaster struck within five minutes of the second half as Brayson hit twice to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
And on the hour it was game over as big defender Stephen Tobin netted the third for Benfield.
The Newtonians dropped to 17th in the Ebac Northern League first division table, and will hope to bounce back at home to Whitley Bay this Saturday (3pm).
Aycliffe: Jones, Storey, Oldfield, Clough, Mitton, Hinchley, M Young, Broom, Boagey, Atkinson, Lowes. Subs: Farley, Brown, Upton, Butterworth, J Young.
