Woodham Academy has welcomed over 100 Year 7 students through the gate as the new academic year begins.
It was officially the start of secondary school for 174 eager students last Tuesday as they made their way to Woodham Academy to start the next step of their education.
With polished shoes, crisp shirts and blazers the students were welcomed by Headteacher, Christine Forsyth.
Many students had already formed new friends thanks to the schools’ transition events that run throughout the year, which include Year 6 Transition Day, Friendship Day and Summer School.
Year 7 student Ben Alderson said: “I’m not really nervous about starting school at Woodham, I’m looking forward to it.
“I already have friends from my primary school but I’m looking forward to making more. I can’t wait to do all the sports too.”
The school has a number of Open Day events organised in September for parents and students beginning Year 6.
An open evening is planned for Thursday September 22 (6pm–8pm) and an open day will be held on Friday September 30 (from 9:30am).
