Newton Aycliffe have added another new player to their ranks – and his name is Earl!
After bringing forward Dan Mellanby back to Aycliffe from Darlington 1883 last week, as well as signing West Auckland midfielder/defender Matthew Coad, the Newtonians have now added Norton forward Danny Earl to their squad.
The former Billingham Synthonia forward, who scored a hat-trick in Synners’ 7-2 FA Cup rout at Moore Lane Park last season, will go straight into Aycliffe’s squad for their trip to Durham City on Tuesday night.
Aycliffe have only netted three goals this season, as they have failed to win in their opening seven games – six of which have ended in defeat.
Having started the season with only Gavin Barton and Paul Robinson as recognised forwards, Allan Oliver has in recent weeks added Sam Vernalls, youngster Lewis Wing and experienced returning crowd favourite Mellanby to his squad.
Earl played 100 times for Synners, netting 55 goals, before signing for Guisborough Town in the summer, but without kicking a ball for the Priorymen, he moved to Norton on the eve of the season.
