A round-up of football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.
Under 7’s – Played Stockton Town, in an entertaining game, Lewis scored a penalty. With changes to the team in the second half, it didn’t disrupt Aycliffe and Cooper scored Aycliffe’s second. Archie then saved a penalty brilliantly.
Under 8’s Reds – Faced Bishop Auckland, putting in a fantastic team effort with bravery from every single player. MOTM was Jack G for amazing defensive display and great listening.
Under 8’s – Played against Riverside Juniors Blues, continuing with their great passing football and team work to deliver another brilliant performance. Goals scored by Colton, Lincoln, Fletcher, and Reign. MOTM went Colton for great decision making and calmness on the ball.
Under 8’s Whites – Played Whitburn and Cleadon Tigers, it was a tough game for Aycliffe, but
Charlie, Louie, Oscar, Seb, Cody, and James all battled hard. MOTM was awarded to Seb from the opposition coach and Cody got parents MOTM.
Under 9’s – Played Linthorpe Academicals, it was a ruthless performance from Aycliffe with plenty of goals from Oliver T (4), Eddie M (3), Ollie J, Noah A and Harvey P. Some good performances with each player improving week on week. Eddie was awarded MOTM for his constant energy up and down the pitch and his good attitude. In the development game Harvey P scored a seven-minute hat-trick and Noah A added two goals.
Under 10’s Blacks – Travelled to Prissick Rovers Blues, Aycliffe put in a great performance with Jack B scoring the goal. POTM was Jarrod H.
Under 10’ Reds – Played their first game in three weeks, it was a tight first half with Jenson making some great saves for Aycliffe. Joseph set up Andrew with a great assist, before finding the net himself. Charlie then assisted Joseph who scored. Andrew then went on a run and smashed in a great finish just as the referee was about to blow for full time. MOTM was Mario.
Under 11’s Blacks – Hosted Redcar Athletic. Aycliffe took the lead when a smart goal kick from Matty found Fin to slot home. Tyler held the ball up, turned and released Max who fired into the bottom corner. Redcar pulled a goal back, before Ryley set up Max for his second of the game. Tyler Jay then made a run down the left and unleashed 20-yard rocket into the roof of the net. MOTM was Matty.
Under 11’s Whites – Played against Durham United Whites, Aycliffe took the lead with an excellent goal from Ethan. They couldn’t hold onto the lead and get the result they wanted. MOTM was William B.
Under 12’s Juniors – Travelled to Boro Rangers Madrid, with a depleted squad, Aycliffe however played some of their best football of the season. Ernie scored early on, before Boro got two back, Dom then equalised after a great pass from Phoebe. Boro got another two then just before half time, before debutant Will capitalised on Boro Rangers not clearing their box to make it 4-3 at the break. The second half was a different story. Boro scored two early goals Aycliffe couldn’t keep up the first half momentum.
Under 12’s Blacks – Travelled to Deerness Valley Storm, getting off to a great start with Connor opening the scoring. Aycliffe dominated possession but unfortunately Deerness come away with a 2-1 win. MOTM was Connor.
Under 13’s – Hosted Grangetown Boys Club Blacks, running away with a 17-0 victory. Goals were scored by Archie (3), Layton (3), Rhys (2), Oscar (2), Grayson (2), Tyler (2), Sam, Alex, and Zach. MOTM was Oscar.
Under 14’s – Travelled to Stockton Town in the last 16 of the county cup. New signing Blake, set up Mo who beat his man and crossed it into the box and the defender bundled the ball into his own net. It was Blake who then added Aycliffe’s second. Stockton pulled one back, but Aycliffe held strong to win 2-1. MOTM was Lochlan.
Under 16’s Whites – Lost 2-0 away to Middleton Rangers in the county cup. An entertaining game which could have gone either way, but it was Middleton who took their chances. MOTM was Zach.
Under 18’s – Entertained Leven in the County Cup quarter final. Liam made his debut in a team that only had eleven players available. In a close game it didn’t go Aycliffe’s way, losing 2-1. The goal was scored by Jacob from 25 yards.
