A round-up of football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.
With storm Babet hitting the country, many grass roots games were cancelled with only two of Aycliffe’s Junior teams games surviving the weather.
Under 8’s Reds – Visited Boro Rangers Blacks at Middlesbrough Sports Village and put in a display to be proud of. Goals were scored by Thomas and Kian against a team who from the start, were matched, with the whole Aycliffe team performing superbly well when called upon. One of the players was playing after an illness on the day before the game and one player continued to play after receiving a ball to the face, the whole team were big, brave, and strong. Oliver received MOTM with an outstanding performance which ever position he was asked to play. Well done, Reds.
Under 9’s – Travelled to face Prissick Rovers Milan, in an early start and with most games off, the pitch held up well and Aycliffe were positive from the start. There were several players missing, due to various reasons, but all nine available players were raring to go. Aycliffe were looking for a positive result and scored goals through Oliver, who was assisted by Ollie, Harvey and Edward who was assisted by Isaac. The players are showing great improvement week on week and are maintaining a high level of work rate. The opposition manager awarded Isaac MOTM on what was his first start for Aycliffe, showing great energy in defence and putting his body on the line.
