A round-up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.
Under 7’s Whites – Played against Chester Le Street United, in a much-improved performance it was Oscar who scored a wonderful goal for Aycliffe.
Under 11’s Blacks – Played against Hetton in the last league game of the season. In a tight game Aycliffe shared the points with goals from Charlie-John & Benjamin. MOTM was shared between Bradley and Jack for their hard work and dedication.
Under 13’s – Travelled to Peterlee Helford for a friendly game, both Mo and Huey had chances but could not find the goal for Aycliffe. MOTM was Evan who played very well at right back.
Under 14’s Blacks – Travelled to Whickham, with only three games left to play and still in the hunt for promotion. Aycliffe did not have the best start conceding an early goal, Aycliffe eventually got into their rhythm and equalised through Joe. Jake went on to score the next two goals before half-time. Into the second half and Whickham pulled a goal back before Joe grabbed his second of the game. Whickham struck next, before Adam grabbed the final goal to give Aycliffe a 5-3 win. MOTM was Danny.
Under 17’s – Travelled to Prudhoe for their first game in six weeks, looking to gain the points needed to get a second-place league finish. With a depleted squad, Aycliffe put in a gutsy performance, eventually taking the lead when Louis scored after a corner kick. George made some terrific saves, before a heart-breaking last-minute equaliser for Prudhoe. MOTM was Charlie.
Under 17’s – Travelled to Felling for their second game in three days. With only twelve available players Aycliffe set up to contain a physical Felling side. The first half remained goal-less, but the second half was vastly different. Felling took the lead after 65 minutes with a well taken goal, before Jude equalised less than thirty seconds later, latching onto a good through ball from Morgan. The same two players linked up again in the 70th minute, with Jude following up on his first shot which the keeper saved, to smash the ball home for a 2-1 lead. The last 20 minutes were tough with Felling equalising following a goalmouth scramble from a corner in the final minute. MOTM was Liam.
