The wet weather put paid to several fixtures this weekend, below is a round up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section that survived the rain.
Under 7’s Juniors – Played against Foundation of Light Panthers, putting all the hard work from the training field into practice. Colton, Reign and Lincoln scored the goals. MOTM was Fletcher who was focussed throughout the game.
Under 7’s Reds – Faced an unbeaten Riverside Juniors Whites, the whole team played exceptionally well, and Aycliffe scored two goals through Jack. MOTM was awarded to Michael who was very brave in goal.
Under 10’s Blacks – Travelled to Normanby United Blues and came away with a tremendous result. Aycliffe dominated the first half, going a fantastic run by Findlay and a great lay off to Fin seen Aycliffe score. Into the Second half and Aycliffe got the goals they deserved, some great link up play from midfield, released Fin who picked out Max on the right, who calmly fired into the bottom corner. Applying the pressure, Aycliffe hit the post and missed an open goal before Fin drove down the right and played a low hard ball into the box that deflected off a Normanby defender and into the net. MOTM was Jacob who showed great energy in midfield and created numerous chances.
Under 10’s Whites – Played against South Shields Clarets, starting off brightly with first half goals from Oscar & Billy. Into the second half things were more difficult, but Aycliffe dug deep and scored again through Kai. MOTM was Josh who defended fantastically.
Under 11’s Juniors – Travelled away to Northallerton, it was a tough day for Aycliffe, not helped by a couple of early injuries that disrupted the teams flow, they were rewarded late on with a goal from Isaac. MOTM was awarded to Maxi for his effort.
Under 15’s Reds – Travelled to Kader, with three players missing they went into the game without a recognised goalkeeper. This did not stop Aycliffe from snatching all three points, with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a goal scored by Will. MOTM was awarded to stand in goalkeeper Reuben.
Under 18’s – Travelled to Yarm to face Leven and on a 3G pitch in the last group game of the league cup. The first half was a tight affair, Leven were very well drilled and played some decent football when they could. Aycliffe however, had much of the play, with only the final ball letting the lads down in the final third. Aycliffe did score a goal before half time when a good run from Lucas resulted in a deflected own goal giving Aycliffe the lead. Into the second half, Aycliffe played much better pressing from the front, resulting in four quality second half goals, scored by Jacob and a great quick-fire Hat-trick from Thomas, ending up with a resounding 5-0 win. A great squad effort with all fifteen available players, playing some part in the game. The result sees the Under 18’s through to the knockout stage after topping the group with three wins from three.
