Sedgefield MP Paul Howell introduces the latest issue of Aycliffe Business with a guest foreword…
Hi and welcome to the 57th issue of Aycliffe Business.
As your Conservative member of Parliament with a lifetime in local business, I was delighted to attend the 2022 Make Your Mark Awards, held at Redworth Hall Hotel in May.
The evening was a fantastic celebration of the amazing companies we have here on Aycliffe Business Park.
Looking at the table plan at the start of the night, it was like reading a Who’s Who of Aycliffe companies – large and small.
There was such a dynamic range of businesses represented at the event, from startups to the well-established names we all know.
It was tremendous to see them all come together.
Awards like these can’t happen without sponsorship support, and I was delighted to see the likes of Husqvarna, Gestamp, Stiller and Ebac – four of our most high-profiles businesses – supporting Make Your Mark this year.
Category sponsors also included local accountancy group Think Kudos, Business Durham, North-East law firm Jacksons and Barbery Richardson, the developers of Forrest Park.
Charlie Charlton, a former senior journalist with BBC Newcastle, was host on the night and Paul Stiller, from Stiller Warehousing and Distribution, delivered an inspiring keynote speech.
The awards ceremony itself was an exciting affair, as we all learned who won the eight categories.
But I also enjoyed speaking to many of the businesses who made it to the final three but didn’t quite win. And I look forward to visiting many of them in the coming months.
If you are an Aycliffe business, I would really encourage you to join us next year, as it was both a fabulous celebration of the amazing businesses we have and a cracking opportunity to network.
This issue of Aycliffe Business comes packed with coverage from the event, including a roll call of all the winners and finalists, reaction and lots of great pictures.

I was delighted to be involved in a small way and I really look forward to seeing awards flourish in the years ahead.
