Business and community groups are being invited to spend the afternoon with a millionaire who will be revealing his latest secret charitable venture.
John Elliott, who was Channel Four’s very first Secret Millionaire in 2006, is hosting an event on Friday 13th July on behalf of County Durham Community Foundation.
John, who is vice president of the charity, has a fund with the Foundation to benefit community groups and individuals from the area.
He also recently announced that he was putting his Newton Aycliffe-based manufacturing business, EBAC, in a trust to pump profits into the local community – instead of passing on his £30m fortune to his children.
John will be talking about his decision, his thoughts on community support and the impact businesses can have as well as revealing details of his new role.
“The Community Foundation is very close to my heart and I am determined to help make a difference,” said John, who was awarded the MBE for services to small business in 1986.
“I want to share details of how we can revolutionise the way businesses interact with community groups in their area, add value to their profit margins through staff development and raise the profile of their company.”
Companies who wish to attend the event on July 13, between 2.00 – 3.30 pm, at EBAC, Ketton Way, Newton Aycliffe should contact Lisa Maughan on 0191 278 6351 to register their place or email [email protected].
