Two men were arrested following a stabbing in the town on Thursday night.
The incident happened at Aldfrid Place shortly before 8.30pm and saw officers from Durham Constabulary attend the disturbance.
A man in his early 20s had suffered a knife wound to his arm and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A second man in his 50s suffered minor injuries.
Two men have been arrested and police investigations are continuing.
Detective sergeant Graeme Hopkirk, from Durham Constabulary, said: “This appears to be an isolated incident in which all those involved were known to each other.
“If anyone witnessed last night’s disturbance or has any information which could help our investigation, we would urge them to get in touch as quickly as possible”.
