A Newton Aycliffe man has been charged with wounding with intent after a knife attack in the town on Friday evening.
As reported on Aycliffe Today, a 32-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach during an incident near Reeth Place in the town at around 6.30pm on Friday night.
The victim was air-lifted to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he underwent surgery and is now in a stable condition.
“The knife penetrated his bowel, and he will likely be in hospital for a few more days,” said a police spokesman.
Police last night charged a 48-year-old local man with wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and possession of Cannabis.
He has been remanded to appear in court tomorrow (Monday) morning.
