The South Durham Enterprise Agency has been awarded the Community Stakeholder of the Year award at the National Enterprise Network’s national conference, held in London.
Awarded for SDEA’s local community engagement and the promotion of enterprise and economic development with a number of local organisations and communities, including local Area Action Partnerships, the Auckland Castle Trust, Town and County Councils and many others the Agency scooped the award in amongst strong national opposition.
SDEA chief executive Steven Robson said: “We’re really proud to be part of the National Enterprise Network and to bring a national award home with us from this year’s conference is testament to the hard work everyone here at the agency puts into their job every day.
“The team deserve the credit, but we should also commend the people and the communities we serve, the award is recognition for their contribution to our local economy also, so our new award will have pride of place!”
Agency chairman Rob Yorke added: “National recognition for the work SDEA put into economic development in our area is well deserved.
“The board and staff work tirelessly to improve the economic outlook for our local communities, helping people everyday do something new and create wealth for themselves and their families.”
The work of the enterprise agency is ongoing with a number of projects still providing start up and business support to the communities of South Durham.
