Dan Lewis is already loving his new role with Newton Aycliffe – and says the club are almost ready to announce their first big event of the new season.
Lewis was appointed Aycliffe’s new general manager earlier this month, with his main role to oversee all of the club’s off-field affairs.
And the former Durham University boss is already poised to announce a Sportsman’s Evening with a high-profile speaker as the main attraction.
Lewis, who spent seven years as deputy director of sport at Durham before launching the Soccer Factory, said: “I’m enjoying the new role, it’s something to get my teeth into and we’re already making some progress on a number of things.
“We’ve set up a new events team, and we’ll be looking to organise at least one non-footballing event every month to raise vital funds.
“We’re currently just dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s for our first major event in September, and we’re confident the name we have lined up for this will excite our fans and all football supporters in Newton Aycliffe.
“We’re also looking to launch a special new stand-alone website for sales only, which will enable fans to buy tickets for events, as well as club merchandise, safely and securely online.
“So there’s lots of exciting irons in the fire which are all slowly coming to fruition.”
Aycliffe hope to announce full details of their first big event next week.
