Knitting needles at the ready – the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP)’s staff, volunteers and befriending group have joined forces to knit squares of support.
Following a campaign from Shildon Town Council and Shildon Alive, the knitted squares have been put together to create blankets for those who need them this winter.
Sandra Roberts, governance and development manager at PCP, said: “It’s been fantastic to see our staff, volunteers and befriending group come together to support people in our community with a gesture of kindness.
“The campaign is ongoing, so there’s still time to grab a pair of knitting needles and try your hand at knitting squares of support.”
Kath Regan, community development and project support officer at Shildon Town Council, said: “Thank you all so very much for your help and support towards the #ShildonCanKnit campaign, your hard work and creativity has been very much appreciated by those who have received a beautiful hand-knitted blanket to help during this cold weather.
“We know it’s a small gesture in the scheme of things, but it can mean such a lot to someone who is struggling with the cold and to know people care enough to do this for us.
“To your staff, volunteers and users who have contributed to this project please extend our thanks and appreciation. It’s a beautiful thing when we put ourselves out to help others.”
