A 19-year-old female shop assistant at Booze Buster in Newton Aycliffe was left “distressed” after a knifepoint robbery.
A man entered the store at around 6.30pm on Monday Bank Holiday (25th August) and produced a large knife.
He threatened the young shop assistant and demanded money and alcohol.
“He left the store with a quantity of cash and two one-litre bottles of Bells whiskey,” said a police statement.
“The female shop assistant, although physically unharmed, was extremely distressed after the incident.”
A 35-year-old local male has been arrested and has now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
