Cymon Lee has demanded back-to-back victories ahead of the visit of Houghton to bring an end to the visitors’ hopes of a top-three finish – and keep their own promotion dream alive.
Lee (pictured) has seen his side win three successive games on home turf – against Chester-Le-Street, Jarrovians and South Tyneside College – but have since dropped six points behind Seaham, having played a game more.
Aycliffe will complete the league season with one home outing by facing Houghton then Seaham and Sedgefield away
And Lee knows they must collect all points to bolster their position before heading to local rivals Sedgefield for a potentially pivotal encounter to fill the second promotion place.
“We don’t want to drop any more points before we go into the derby game,” the Aycliffe manager insisted.
“We’ll see what the outcome of that is, but we have to look after our own shop and try to take maximum points from the games.
“If we play as well as we did in the early start of the season then we won’t be far away from doing that.
“We were flat against Chester-Le-Street but the performance against Houghton early in the season was night and day from that in terms of the quality of attacking play, so that’s where we need to be in terms of attacking play come Saturday.”
Aycliffe are at home to Houghton today, 3pm kick-off at Aycliffe Sports Club.
