Darlington manager Craig Liddle admits his side’s trip to fellow strugglers Alfreton Town today is a huge test.
Quakers are now level with fourth-bottom Kettering in the Blue Square Bet Premier League – only goal difference is keeping them out of the relegation places after a 10-point deduction for going into Administration saw them slide down the table.
Today they go to third-bottom Alfreton in Derbyshire knowing a defeat could see them slip into the drop-zone.
“It’s a huge game,” admitted Liddle.
“We’re only out of the bottom four on goal difference now, so we need to get some kind of result on Saturday.
“We need to be prepared for a scrap and a fight, which is what Alfreton are all about.
“We’ll have to stand up and be counted – we’ll make the players aware of that but I’m pretty sure we’ll go down there and have a good go.
“They’ll be favourites because of the nature of our squad, but there’ll be a lot of pressure on them because they’re at home.
“But if we stick to our game then I’m confident we’ll get something.”
