In-form Bishop Auckland comfortably ran out derby winners against Newton Aycliffe on Bank Holiday Monday.
Bishop cruised to a 3-0 victory at the Aux Audio Stadium as Aycliffe’s start to the 2014-15 season went from bad to worse.
Four defeats out of five leaves them fifth-bottom in the Ebac Northern League first division.
But they can take some consolation from the fact their visitors on Monday are being tipped to challenge for the league title this season.
Bishop have won four from four so far – including impressive victories over Celtic Nation, West Auckland and Whitley Bay – and are second-top in the first division behind North Shields.
Aycliffe’s only win so far came against Crook Town – their visitors to Moore Lane Park on Saturday – and Adrian Webster will be hoping his side can kick-start the campaign again.
