A Woodham Academy student is getting his skates on to represent his country.
Gregor Mills has been selected for the England’s under-13s Ice Hockey team.
At 11-years-old, Gregor is the youngest member of the squad that will fly out to Bratislava, Slovakia in April.
He’ll wear the coveted England shirt following a rigorous recruitment process that included selection for the North of England team, and then eight days of intensive national trials.
Woodham Academy head teacher Christine Forsyth said: “We are delighted for Gregor and very proud of this significant achievement, which is thoroughly deserved.
“Gregor demonstrates what talent, combined with dedication and hard work can achieve. We’ve no doubt he will excel for his country, just as he excels at school.”
To earn his call up, Gregor underwent a final trial consisting of a 12-hour day of testing and games. He continues to train hard every day in pursuit of his dream.
Woodham Academy offers an extensive range of sports to its students and provides high-quality coaching delivered by the school’s award-winning PE department and in partnership with local sports clubs.
