Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club have unveiled their new shirt sponsor for the 2014 season.
Frank’s The Flooring Store – famous for its catchline “I love carpets, me!” – have agreed to become Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s main shirt sponsor for the forthcoming season and will see their logo worn on the white shirts of both senior sides in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League.
Club Chairman Ian Palmer said: “When our previous shirt sponsor withdrew in February we needed to move quickly and I was delighted when Frank’s agreed to become our main shirt sponsor.
“They have been very supportive of what we are trying to achieve at Newton Aycliffe and I hope that the current one year agreement will be the start of a long lasting partnership.”
Frank’s Financial Director David Stubbs added: “Frank’s the Flooring Store are passionate about the North East, and are proud to be supporting our local sports club.
“We wish Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club the best of luck for the coming season.”
Newton Aycliffe warmed up for the new season with an emphatic win over Washington last Sunday.
Batting first Washington were bowled out for 50 before Aycliffe posted an impressive 245 for 3.
Washington then batted again and were restricted to 109 for 7. New signing Colin Myers took 7 wickets in the match while Sam Telford scored 63 and captain Chris Palmer hit 52 not out.
Having gained promotion to Division 2 Newton Aycliffe’s first team start the season this Saturday 19 April with a trip to Middlesbrough, while the second team start their Division 3 campaign by hosting Bedale at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club on the same day. Both games start at 1.00pm.
