An eagerly-awaited ‘Scoot Park’ is now complete and ready for action in time for the school summer holidays.
Local residents at Horndale were keen to get started as soon as the safety fencing was dismantled and the unanimous view from riders who have tried the track is that it is a massive success.
The track is designed to complement the current wheeled play provision provided by Great Aycliffe Town Council, including the Skate Park at Town Park and the BMX track at Woodham Park.
The facility provides a series of carefully designed tarmac ramps which can be utilises by a wide range of ages and abilities. While designed with scooters in mind it is also suitable to be used by skateboards, skates and BMXs.
The new facility which is located to the rear of Horndale Play area has been created by Bike Track.
It is provided by Great Aycliffe Town Council and much of the funding necessary for its development has been provided by Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP).
