Free classes to help children increase their confidence in water are being offered in a number of County Durham leisure centres over the next few weeks, including Newton Aycliffe.
Young people aged between two and six can join Brock the badger and his friends for the Ready, Sett, Splash sessions, which include 30 minutes of instructor-led fun and 30 minutes of free play.
The free class at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre will be held every Saturday, 2-3pm, between June 13 and 22.
They’ll also be held at Chester-le-Street Leisure Centre on Sundays, 2.30–3.30pm; Peterlee Leisure Centre on Wednesdays, 1–2pm; and Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex on Sundays, 1–2pm.
Little ones can attend as many of the free sessions as they like until the offer ends on July 22.
Kaye Stephenson, Principal Aquatics Manager at Durham County Council, said: “Ready, Sett, Splash is great fun for children and the sessions provide the perfect balance between fun and learning.
“Each class includes lots to keep little ones entertained, from toys to treasure hunts, and there’s plenty of fun for the adults as well.”
