Year 11 leavers returned for a very special evening to celebrate their recent achievements at Greenfield Community College.
The evenings were a great success with students coming along with their families to receive their GCSE certificates and take part in the annual awards ceremony.
The events, held at both the Aycliffe and Shildon site have become a special date in the school calendar, allowing the year group to re-unite to celebrate their time at Greenfield.
Staff were delighted to welcome back former students Danielle Mercer and Lauren Foster to present the awards.
Danielle left Greenfield Community College in 2010 and has since pursued a successful career in forensic psychology.
Lauren Foster, an integral member of the ‘Greenfield Family’ was on hand at Shildon, Lauren is not only a key member of the maths department but was also a former student at Shildon.
“It was great to have members of the Greenfield family to present the awards and talk about their experience,” said head of school Stuart Dixon.
In addition to receiving GCSE and other academic certificates a number of students were also presented with special individual awards for outstanding academic and personal performance. Students were nominated in subject areas and the standard of achievement was excellent.
Executive Head teacher David Priestley said: “The students have demonstrated commitment and resilience.
“There are some outstanding achievements in this year group but we are proud of each and every student.
“I believe that the class of 2018 are an inspiration, they have taken advantage of the opportunities we have provided to develop as ambitious, confident, self-led learners.”
The evenings offered a lovely opportunity for all the students and families to catch-up and share some great memories, bringing each other up-to-date with plans for the future.
