Students and staff have been celebrating another year of record-breaking success at Greenfield Community College, as the top academic school in the area for the second year running.
This achievement crowns a fantastic year at Greenfield, where outstanding results have been rewarded by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), acknowledging their sustained progression over the past three years, placing them in the top 100 schools in the country for improvement.
Executive Headteacher, David Priestley, puts his success down to the “hard work and determination of the pupils, supported by a really supportive team of teachers committed to seeing all pupils reach beyond their potential.”
Whilst success was widespread across the school, the English results were particularly impressive with 96% of pupils achieving the government’s target of three levels of progress, and the majority exceeding this with four, five and even six levels of progress – an outstanding accomplishment!
At Greenfield pupils and teachers drive themselves to go beyond what is expected and this aspirational approach clearly reaps rewards: in seven other subjects including the sciences more than 25% of students managed to achieve the top grades of A*/A, accumulating a staggering total of 218.
Owen Preston, a 2014 leaver, recently returned from Greenfield’s World Challenge in Morocco just in time to collect his results.
He said: “Like the rest of my year group I gained some excellent exam results this has allowed me to move on to Queen Elizabeth sixth form.
“But It’s not just about exam results at Greenfield. All the staff work hard to give us lots of opportunities from skiing in the Alps, to participating in real charity projects like World Challenge which change our lives and the lives of others in so many ways.”
