Greenfield’s primary netball squad got there chance to pick their wits against older opposition this week, with a select team of year 7’s and a mixture of Woodham and Greenfield pupils.
So the games itself started with Greenfield/Woodham taking an early lead, but the primary school team coach Kimberley Adamson took advantage of their squad of 11 by swapping players around and got back into the game making it 1-1 at half-time.
Coach Adamson’s team talk most of been inspirational with primary coming out of the blocks quick scoring two in quick succession.
So one quarter to go and Greenfield/Woodham went all out attack whilst the primary defended for their lives but Primary came out on top holding out in defence and winning the game.
A special well done to Paige Spencley of St Josephs for dominating the centre court and picking up the player of game award.
All the coaches were impressed with the effort and determination.
Head of Netball at Greenfield, Ellie Barnes, said: “Credit to the primary school kids they have improved so much, their passing and movement around the court was impressive to watch.”
The training that has run over the last four months has grown from strength thanks to the efforts of coaches Kim Adamson, Ellie Barnes and Barbara Davis.
The sessions, which are held 4.30-5.30pm every Wednesday evening at Greenfield Sports Hall, consist of a variety of different games and drills to develop footwork, passing and shooting.
