Newton Aycliffe-based automotive component manufacturer, Gestamp, has donated £1,000 and hundreds of re-usable water bottles to local secondary school, Woodham Academy, to help with the current Covid situation.
Gestamp supplies most major car manufacturers and employs 1,200 people from the local area.
The firm’s HR manager Brian Rees said: “As a business it has been a tough year, but we read about Marcus Rashford’s initiative and the government turnaround on providing Free School Meals and we still wanted to help the local community.”
Mrs Sarah Dickinson, deputy head at Woodham Academy, said “It’s been a tough year for schools and families in the community and this contribution from Gestamp is greatly appreciated and will help students in these difficult times.”
