Funding has been used to help Team Warrior Taekwondo Club get off to a great start in their newly-refurbished training facility.
The funding secured through Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP), via the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of County Councillors Jim Atkinson, Sarah Iveson, John Clare, Paul Howell, Kate Hopper, Eddy Adam and Scott Durham, allowed the club to purchase a range of new equipment and essential items.
The new equipment will be used by all members of the club and will benefit greatly to their training in preparation for future competition and gradings.
The funding the club has received has allowed them to successfully operate from their new facility on Aycliffe Business Park, which will in turn contribute significantly to the club sustainability.
Chris and Michelle Howarth, instructors of Team Warrior TKD Aycliffe and the lead on the project, said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in funding our project.
“We feel very fortunate to be able to hold our sessions, not only in our new training facility, but more importantly on a fully matted floor.
“The 20/20 body armour has been a great asset to our younger students, helping them to build confidence and perfect their technique as they try to score points whilst sparring one another.
“The feedback from all of our students has been very positive and we are very grateful.”
