Newton Aycliffe’s football club are today preparing for the biggest game in their history.
The Newtonians entertain current Northern League champions Marske United in the fourth round (last 32) of the FA Vase today (Saturday, 3pm).
The game at Moore Lane Park has been given the all-clear after a sustained spell of postponed fixtures due to a waterlogged pitch.
Peter Dixon’s side beat Atherton Collieries in the their third round match last weekend.
That game was switched to Durham’s artificial pitch at short notice to beat the weather.
Aycliffe last played Marske on the opening day of the season last August, with the Blues winning 2-1.
A reward for victory today is a 550-mile round trip to Camberley Town in Surrey next weekend.
The Road to Wembley started with 572 clubs in this season’s FA Vase – can our club make it to the last 16?
Kick-off today is 3pm – admission is £6 adults, £4 concessions.
