A group of year 8 students from Woodham Academy are taking part in the Durham Future Business Magnates Challenge this year.
The challenge requires year 8 students to work together as a business to come up with a business idea and develop it into the prototype stage.
The group is being supported in the challenge by local company Ebac, who will work with the students during the different business tasks.
In preparation for the challenge the group set up a cake business.
The group manufactured and sold their products at a school event before Christmas.
This gave the students experience of promoting and selling products to the general public.
Woodham Academy headteacher Christine Forsyth said: “This is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain early experience of working in business.
“Once again, we are very grateful to Ebac for their expert help.”
