Woodham Academy continues to invest in the fabric of the school, with another brand-new science laboratory and fully refurbished music room now open.
The school now has six new science classrooms, with an investment of over £200,000 in these areas alone – tasking total investment in the school to nearly £1m in the last four years.
The fully refurbished music room now features 30 new keyboards, all linked to a PC, allowing students’ creativity to flourish.
Mrs Godfrey, head of music at Woodham, said: “Many of the old keyboards were functional, but with this new model, we can develop students’ musical ability far more.
“The students are loving their lessons and the teachers are excited about the range of new possibilities.”
Meanwhile each science room is equipped with an interactive smartboard, large working spaces and excellent viewing areas for experiments.
Head of science Mr Jenkins said: “It is important that our students have the best possible facilities, particularly in specialist subjects like Science.
“This allows all of the teachers in the department to deliver the highest quality lessons in each of the three science disciplines.”
Woodham Academy has seen a significant increase in student numbers in the last four years.
Head teacher Mr Bell added: “When students choose to come to Woodham, it is vital that we invest in the school, as they deserve the very best we can offer.
“We have invested almost £1m in the last four years and we have a range of further improvements to be completed by September, to welcome our biggest year 7 in recent times.
“When it becomes possible, I’m very much looking forward to inviting families into the school, particularly those who came here as students, as I’m sure they will appreciate the significance of the improvements.”
