Newton Aycliffe’s FA Vase third round tie at home to Atherton Collieries has again been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The last 32 tie was originally scheduled to be played in December but was twice delayed due to the bad weather.
It was re-scheduled for tonight (Tuesday 5th January) but was this morning re-arranged for this Saturday (9th January), kicking off at 3pm.
Aycliffe only managed one game during December, a 1-0 loss to current Vase holders North Shields.
All other games have been washed out including the Boxing Day derby against Bishop Auckland, while their home game against Norton also fell foul of the wet conditions.
The lousy weather may have put a literal dampener on the end to 2015 but Aycliffe have finished the year in a healthy league position, currently sitting sixth in the Ebac Northern League Division One.
They are also top of the current form league with 15 points from the last six games.
Attention now turns to the delayed Vase tie on Saturday, with the prospect of a home tie against either Marske United or Team Northumbria in the fourth round for the winner.
