Byerley Park School have shot to the top of the class after national statistics ranked them the best primary school in Newton Aycliffe.
Government data published today show 100% of pupils at Byerley Park are attaining their expected level (Level 4) in English and Maths.
All Year 6 pupils are also making the expected amount of progress in both English and Maths, while 29% of Year 6 pupils are classed as ‘higher level’ (reaching Level 5, the level expected of a 14-year-old, in both English and Maths).
St Mary’s School has 92% of pupils at the expected levels for English and Maths, while St Joseph’s School has the best ‘higher level’ percentage on the town, at 32%.
Alison Gargan, head teacher at Byerley Park, told Aycliffe Today: “The school is delighted with the progress that our learners have made.
“The changes that we’ve made over the years are now having a hugely-positive impact on pupils’ education, and we look forward to maintaining and improving standards within the school.”
