People in Newton Aycliffe will soon get a first look at the changes taking place at their local leisure centre.
The first phase of work to revamp the front of the building will be unveiled next week with the opening of a new main entrance.
The £1m project, being carried out by Durham County Council, will also see the town’s library moving to a newly refurbished space within the leisure centre.
Once the scheme is complete, the new entrance, on Beveridge Way, will also provide access to the library when it opens in December.
Until work is finished, residents can continue to use the existing library on Central Avenue.
There should be no disruption to services at the leisure centre while work is ongoing and visitors to the Pathways service are advised to continue using their normal entrance.
