County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) have established an agreement with the Fire Brigade Union (FBU) to support participation in life-long learning whilst building upon the Government’s national learning initiatives.
The Learning Agreement was signed by Director of Community Protection, Stuart Errington and the Service’s FBU Learning Representative, Craig Pharoah (also pictured; Lara Hindhaugh of the FBU Regional Training Centre and John Robson, CDDFRS Training Manager).
Stuart Errington said: “This agreement demonstrates how the Service is committed to on-going development of all of its employees.
“Through working in partnership, both the Service and the FBU can promote lifelong learning opportunities.
“The agreement will enable all employees to participate in approved courses and qualifications covering a wide span of topics.
“The benefits of a well-trained workforce are well documented; furthermore, we recognise the importance of equality of access to learning to enhance skill levels, as well as the individual learning and development needs of all our employees.”
Craig Pharoah said: “We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with CDDFRS to enhance and improve the skills and qualifications of employees.
“The learning agreement provides a sound commitment from the FBU and the Service to ensure that all staff have the opportunity to improve both their work and social skills.”
