A fire has delayed the start of the new school year for some children in Newton Aycliffe.
Two classrooms and part of the church at St Francis Church of England School, in the Horndale area of the town, have been badly affected by fire.
Aycliffe Today are still awaiting full details, but we understand the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Parents were sent text messages this morning, saying the school will be closed until further notice. Children were due to start the new school year tomorrow.
