Residents in County Durham are being reminded of a final chance to give their views on proposed changes to constituency boundaries.
Durham County Council is reminding residents that they can take part in a consultation launched by the Boundary Commission, which is carrying out a formal review of parliamentary constituency boundaries across the UK.
The aim of the review is to ensure the number of electors in each area is more equal and will see the number of constituencies in the country increase from 533 to 543.
Initial proposals on what the new constituencies would look like were published by the commission last year, followed by two public consultations.
Following the second consultation, the commission made significant changes to its initial proposals considering the comments and feedback it received.
A final consultation has now been launched and members of the public have the chance to give their views until Monday, December 5.
The public can comment on details such as where the proposed boundaries are and suggested new constituency names, with the commission to consider evidence from all the consultation periods before forming its final recommendations to send to Parliament by July 2023.
Any changes will not affect local council services, with the boundary changes relating only to parliamentary constituencies, which is the area an MP is elected to represent in Parliament.
