The region’s first University Technical College (UTC) which opened on Aycliffe Business Park last September is gearing up for two more open days.
After the success of the first two open days back in October, the UTC South Durham has added an extra two to the diary, aimed at helping students make an informed decision regarding their Year 10 option choices and Year 12 College choices.
The UTC is a new school and college which first opened its doors in September last year to students aged 14-19 looking to specialise their studies in Engineering, Technology, Maths and Science.
The new open days are due to be held on February 9 and 15 – click here for more details.
The first ever set of Year 10 and 12 students have settled in well over their first term and the UTC are now looking to find their next set of students who wish to join them in September 2017.
“I chose the UTC last year because I wanted a career in engineering,” said Year 12 student Arianna Robinson (pictured above).
“I have been very impressed with both my A-Level courses and the amount of Industry Partner visits and projects I have been involved with over the last five months.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the next year and a half holds for me.”
The open evenings will give students and their families the opportunity to see the state of the art facilities and specialist equipment available.
They will also get a guided tour by current students, and will have access to speak with the UTC’s industry partners and supporters such as Hitachi, University of Sunderland, Husqvana, Bignall Group, The Army and many more, to find out how you can peruse a career in engineering.
If you are unsure which courses are right for you, staff will be available on the night to offer guidance.
The open evenings are being held on February 9 and 15, 5pm-7:30pm. You can book a 5pm or 6pm tour at the event by emailing Leyanne Pennington-Foster at [email protected], or calling on 01325 430 250. Or click here for more details.
