Students at Greenfield Community College in Newton Aycliffe are looking forward to a new library system that will make for easy reading in the future.
The system will be a great new way for students and staff to access the library created with an accessible online platform.
“Students will be able to check out new releases, see what is available and reserve their choice, creating their very own reading wish-list,” said school librarian Ms Vennard.
“They can also leave reviews and search for other interests to support their reading and learning goals.
“We believe that the ability and joy of reading should be nourished and underpins all ventures of life.”
The reading tools will afford students the opportunity to support their learning, as research has shown the connection between reading and writing is strongly linked to academic success.
Greenfield dedicated 20 minutes each day during tutor time (T4S) for students to read to help support their learning.
This investment has shown increases in reading levels and a positive impact on student learning.
