Easter themed fun for youngsters is on offer at parks across County Durham all this week.
Durham County Council venues are hosting a range of activities to keep children entertained during the school holidays.
At Hardwick Park in Sedgefield, the Cin-egg-matic superstars trail can be enjoyed daily until Sunday April 28.
Youngsters face the challenge of identifying all the famous egg faces hiding in the park. Trail sheets cost £1 and can be bought from the park’s gift shop during opening hours.
Hardwick hosts Woodland Easter Crafts on Wednesday (April 17) from 11am to 3pm, offering children the chance to make a hessian celebration flag, weave an Easter egg using natural materials and take part in spring planting activities. Entry is £3 per child.
And on Saturday (April 20) the park will be the venue for a day of family fun, with Easter craft activities, an egg hunt and family entertainment in Hardwick’s yurt.
There is also the chance to meet the Easter bunny himself for a chocolate treat! Various time slots are available. Admission is £8.50 per child and booking is essential – call 03000 262899.
In Durham the bounding bunnies Easter trail runs daily at Wharton Park until Sunday (April 28).
The Easter Bunny’s friends are lost in the park and children are invited along to help find them. Those who complete the trail collect a sticker. Trail sheets cost £1 and can be bought from the park’s café during opening hours.
At Blackhill and Consett Park, a free family Easter trail takes place on Thursday (April 18) from 3pm to 4.30pm.
Youngsters can follow the trail to explore the park and collect the clues to lead them to an Easter surprise.

Jimmy Bennett, the council’s clean and green manager, said: “Our parks really do make great outdoor playgrounds for children. With two weeks off school and the weather showing signs of improving, these events are the perfect opportunity for youngsters to get outside and enjoy them.”
