A Durham man appeared at the town’s Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday) charged with a robbery which happened in Newton Aycliffe last weekend.
James Campbell, 22, from Meadowfield, Durham, was charged with robbery and possessing an offensive weapon.
Cigarettes worth £54.86 were taken during an incident at the McColl’s store at Washington Crescent.
Campbell was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Durham Crown Court on 5th January.
