Newton Aycliffe 0, Dunston 2
By Dave Strickland
Newton Aycliffe went out of the League Cup with a 2-0 defeat at home to Dunston on Tuesday night.
The Newtonians went 1-0 down after only six minutes when Fitzpatrick converted a penalty.
Dunston were well on top and went further ahead on 23 minutes when Hiftle fired a low shot in from outside the box.
Aycliffe changed their formation and started to come into the game. Paul Kane had a one-on-one with Dunston with keeper Harrison on 36 minutes, but the keeper made a fine stop. Five minutes later Kane curled a shot just past the post.
The second half was even with both sides probing for an opening. Aycliffe went down to 10 men on 69 minutes when Jamie Davis received a second yellow card. Harrison made a great save in injury time to keep Aycliffe out.
Aycliffe are back in league action when they entertain Billingham Synthonia at Moore Lane Park on Saturday (November 18).
