Drone pilots are being reminded of the laws and restrictions surrounding their hobby.
Following a handful of concerns raised by Durham Tees Valley Airport, Durham Constabulary are encouraging those with drones to consult the Civil Aviation Authority’s ‘Drone Code’.
The guide outlines the do’s and don’ts of responsible drone operation, which, if not adhered to, can lead to criminal prosecution.

Sgt Marcus McCormack, Senior Ports Officer for Durham Constabulary, said: “Although drones can be a lot of fun, they also have the potential to cause serious harm if not used safely and correctly.
“Fortunately no serious incidents have occurred so far, but we’re keen to make sure that the relevant information is available to those who need it.”
In addition to the Drone Code, no-fly zones can be viewed at www.noflydrones.co.uk, which shows the large exclusion zone surrounding Durham Tees Valley Airport.
