Aycliffe Police are naming and shaming local criminals as part of a tough new approach.
In his exclusive weekly blog here on Aycliffe Today, Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Mark Edwards (pictured) has revealed our local NPT are now operating an active ‘name the offender’ policy.
“I have no doubt that there will be mixed opinion on this, but that’s Policing for you,” writes Sergeant Edwards.
“But we can’t keep everybody happy all of the time!”
Sgt Edwards goes on to name Ferryhill resident Geraldine Wynn, who has admitted a shoplifting offence in the Aycliffe Wilkinson’s store in February.
He also names Lynne Pogson as having breached bail conditions and 18-year-old Aycliffe resident Kayleigh Young, who is now serving a four-week custodial sentence for local offences.
