Saturday 27th May – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Stokesley 2nd XI – weather was changeable and mild. Stokesley won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Stokesley 2nd XI 161 for 3 after 20.4 overs

Aycliffe’s first team suffered a comprehensive home defeat to Stokesley 2nd XI by seven wickets. Chris Palmer (sponsored by Vanila Design & Print) was nominated man of the match for a gritty innings of 35, which included 4 boundaries. This defeat leaves Aycliffe just above the relegation places with 56 points from 6 games played.
Saturday 27th May – NYSD Division 4
Saltburn 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was hot and sunny. Saltburn won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 275 all out after 50 overs

Saltburn 2nd XI 235 for 7 after 50 overs
George Slatcher 2 for 21 and Steve Sweeney 2 for 26
The seconds finished an excellent game of cricket with a winning draw away at Saltburn 2nd XI in a game that was totally dominated by the bat. Aycliffe set a new 2nd team Club record innings high score when they finished their 50 overs on 275 all out, breaking the previous record of 264 that had stood for 19 years. Dave Wright (photograph attached) was given the man of the match award for a brilliant innings of 98 off 101 balls including 12 boundaries and three sixes. This was the highest score by a second team batsman for 17 years. Saltburn’s total of 235 pushed the match aggregate of runs to 510 and this too was a new Aycliffe 2nd team Club record.
