Saturday 7th May – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Wolviston 1st XI – weather was cool and cloudy. Aycliffe lost the toss and were asked to bowl first.
Wolviston 1st XI 165 all out after 49.5 overs
Luke Telford 4 for 8, Patrick Howe 2 for 34 and Ryan Dawson 2 for 34

Aycliffe won their first game of the season with an excellent four wicket victory at home to Wolviston 1st team. 16 year all rounder Ryan Dawson (sponsored by Pheonix Energy (UK) Ltd) was given the man of the match award for taking a couple of wickets and then following it up with a brilliant score of 59 from 109 balls, including seven boundaries when he opened the innings. Credit must also be given to Michael Howe who smashed a half century from just 32 balls and was eventually out for 54 from 35 balls and his quickfire innings included ten well hit boundaries.
Saturday 7th May – NYSD Division 3
Redcar 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was cool and cloudy. Redcar won the toss and decided to bat first.
Redcar 2nd XI 230 for 6 after 43 overs
Lucas Pilling 3 for 48 and Sean Morgan 2 for 38
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 78 all out after 22.4 overs
Sam Dobinson 13 not out and Dan Bowmer 12
A very young and inexperienced second team, which included three under 13’s players in their ranks, lost heavily away at promotion candidates Redcar 2nd XI. 13 year old left arm medium pacer Lucas Pilling was given the man of the match award for his superb bowling taking 3 for 48 in only his second senior game.
